David Kover Obituary

David Benjamin Kover

Feb. 16,1978-June 9,2025

David Benjamin Kover, beloved son to Karen Merchain, brother to Justin (Lacie) Kover and Leroy Kover, loving father to his precious daughter, Deja Marie, much loved uncle to Mina Kover and Molly Kover and Brady Brink, and nephew to his uncles, Mike McDonough (Linda) and Ron Bemis passed peacefully in his sleep from heart failure on June 9, 2025. David also leaves behind many cousins and friends that he cherished. He was preceded in death by his father, Raleigh Mitchell Kover and his stepfather Johnnie Merchain.

He was employed by Brighton Creek Recovery Home. It was the job he wanted so badly and was so excited to have been chosen for the position. He was looking forward to giving service to others. As a family, we are extremely proud of him and the hard work he put in, achieving his goals. He was embracing his community, his roots, as a descendant of the Nisqually Tribe, finding his place in this world.

David love fishing, creating art pieces from different kinds of wood and resin on his lathe and video games but his most loved past time was playing his guitar and all genre of music. He was an amazing musician. In his youth he played with the band Sesame Street Gangsters and even jammed with the local band POD, who he admired so much. He gave his love of music to his girl, Deja, which was his greatest joy. He was a family guy, loving his family ever so much.

He was a gentle soul, a peacemaker. He went by many different nicknames, Speedoman, Big Mix, Skater Dave, Sweatshirt Dave, in his family Uncle Turdbird and as a child, Bear.

We will miss David more than words could ever express. He leaves us with countless memories which will be cherished and shared forevermore.

A service for David will be held at Nisqually Spirit House, 1922 Lashi St. Olympa, WA 98513 (behind the Youth Center) on June 28,2025 at 12pm/noon. We are planning a pot luck buffet with entree and some of David's favorite foods provided. We invite you to bring your favorite dish and please bring a memory to share.

We would like to thank the Nisqually Tribal Council and all that showed such loving support.
