Timothy Fredson Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Timothy Mark Fredson on February 10, 2026, at the age of 71. A lifelong resident of Washington, Tim was born on June 13, 1954, in Shelton, WA.
Growing up, he was known for his rambunctious spirit and an early aptitude for both arts and athletics. A natural athlete and a clever, determined child, Tim displayed endless tenacity and resilience throughout his life. After graduating from Shelton High School in 1972, Tim entered the family trade and became a fifth-generation log scaler. Highlights of his timber career include chairing the annual Olympic Logging Conference in 2001 and working as one of the last water log scalers in the region.
Later on, Tim went back to college where he studied Computer Systems and Electronics Engineering. This ultimately led him to 18 years as a Survey AutoCAD Technician for Pierce County. Whether scaling logs or drafting complex designs on a screen, Tim’s work was defined by the same precision and dedication.
Tim was as big a fan of rock ‘n’ roll as there ever was, following the spirit and magic of the defining genre of his youth. Whether in his car or at a show, Tim was always enthralled by a ripping guitar solo or the perfect Tom Petty song. The man knew how to rock, and rock he did.
To describe Tim as a sports fan would be a massive understatement. While watching alongside him, one was treated to a narration that struck the perfect balance between effortless technical knowledge and a cutting, rapscallion wit. His own prowess on the golf course was witnessed by many, as he was often spotted on the fairways, and sometimes the rough, of Shelton’s own Bayshore Golf Course.
Tim was, above all else, a man with a massive heart and an infectious spirit. He lived for the people he loved, maintaining lifelong friendships and sharing a deep, lively, and enduring bond with his partner, Linda. He had immense pride and adoration for his children. To him, his kids could do no wrong, and he was enduringly generous in his love for them. To his dogs, he was a devoted companion who loved them without limit.
Known as a "big softie," he also enjoyed playfully teasing his loved ones. He possessed an effortless, infectious sense of humor and was easily amused, often producing a signature chuckle. He was his happiest as an audience to his family–watching his grandchildren put on a performance, harass one another, bash a piñata, or scramble through an Easter egg hunt. He didn't just love his family; he delighted in them, leaving a legacy of laughter and a heart that lives on.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Mark and Mary Fredson.
He is survived and deeply missed by: Linda Gott, his devoted life partner; his children, Rose Fredson, Claire (Fredson) Jones, and Mark Fredson; his cherished granddaughters, Ivy and Felicity Ellis, and Wesley and Parker Jones; his sister, Kelly Fredson, and brother, Thomas Fredson; as well as a close circle of friends and the many dogs who miss his warm affirmations and boundless affection.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 25th, at 1:00 PM at the Pavilion at Sentry Park (190 W Sentry Dr, Shelton, WA 98584).
