Sally Jones Obituary

Sally Sayan Jones of Shelton passed away on May 5, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia. She was 90 years old. Sally was born in Seattle, the only daughter of James Arnold Sayan and Bernice Brighton and was raised with her brothers Douglas, Donald and Michael.

During her early years, the family lived in many places within Washington to accommodate her parents’ job locations. Sally married Phil Young and welcomed two sons, Scott and Loren while in West Seattle. After divorce, she lived in the San Juan Islands, Alaska and later moved to Okanogan where she stayed until she came to Shelton to be closer to her brothers and farther away from the Tug Tavern in West Seattle where she shared many good times (and cocktails) with friends.

In Shelton she met and married Ivan Jones in 2004 and moved to Hammersley Inlet to the home she lived in until her passing. She loved living near the south sound, and Ivan and “Sister Sally” as he called her shared many wonderful times together. Sally was a woman with strong opinions which she would share often whether you wanted to hear them or not. Overall, Sally was one of a kind and with her earthy/Irish sense of humor you were never sure what you were going to get. As she would lament, “It ain’t easy being green!”

Sally was predeceased by her husband Ivan, her parents, her son Loren, and her brothers Douglas and Donald. She is survived by her son Scott Young (Kim) of Pennsylvania, stepson Scott and wife Linda Jones of California, brother Michael (Nancy), sister-in-law Marilyn Sayan, many grandchildren and nieces and nephews, and her good friend and caregiver Vanessa Inman, all of whom will miss her greatly.
