Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Norton

Elizabeth (Ann) Norton, 66 died Sunday, October 20, at home in Shelton from complications of uterine cancer. She was born September 16, 1947 in Elizabeth City, N.C. and a 1965 graduate of Elizabeth City High School. Ann was a student attending beauty college when she met the love of her life Douglas Lee Norton and married him on July 31, 1966 in Elizabeth City, N.C. Ann was a resident of Mason County for 46 years. She worked primarily as a home maker and caregiver. Ann was a member of the Shelton Nazarene Church. Ann enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing and crafts. She enjoyed long drives in the country, blackberry, mushroom and oyster picking with family and friends. Ann collected items with lady bugs, light houses and butterflies. She was known for her warm smile and her sense of humor. Surviving are her brothers George Edward White (Evangeline) and Donald Wayne White (Teresa) of Elizabeth City, N.C; beloved daughters, Deborah Henderson (Tom) of Covington, WA; Teresa Gray (Steven) of Shelton; Crystal Thomas (Roy) of Kodiak, AK. ; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandson; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents George Augusta and Elizabeth Susan White as well as her husband Douglas Norton.
