Obituary of Gary Stephen Niemi

Gary Steven Niemi passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Seattle V.A. Hospital from complications of Diabetes. He was born in New York City on June 21, 1953 to Vernon Niemi and Mary (May) McGlynn Niemi. His family moved to Washington State in 1960. He graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1971. In 1974, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. for two years. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Kay; two sons John of Olympia and Jeff (Aubria) of Montesano; four grandchildren Paige, Lincoln, Lawyer and Harper; a sister Verna Frickel of Humptulips; brother Bruce Niemi of Central Park; two nephews Dan Jones and Kelly Frickel, and a niece Dawn (Crickett) Frickel. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rene Jones. There will be a celebration of life at the Aberdeen Elks, 1712 S. Boone St., Aberdeen, Wash. on Friday, April 8 at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted toward Gary’s final expenses.
