Obituary of Marvin Howard Goodwin
Marvin “Mickey” Goodwin, 81, passed away May 10, 2016 peacefully in his home with
family at his side. He was born April 18, 1935 in Shelton and resided there his entire life.
His parents were Howard and Sophie (Holtorf) Goodwin. He married Roberta “Bobbie” Butler
on July 23, 1955 and were married for 54 years prior to her death in 2009.
His greatest joy was being with and spending time with his family. He enjoyed entertaining
friends with big BBQ’s and parties. He enjoyed cooking and creating new dishes, gardening, spending time in Maui & Palm Springs and being an entrepreneur. He loved playing jokes on his friends
and enjoyed life! He was a very generous man who touched many lives over the years.
He worked hard and owned many different businesses over the years. One of his early ventures Mickey’s Food Products – where he created his own horseradish – “Mickey’s Horseradish” which is still
being sold. His desire was to create the ultimate Sandwich Deli which turned into Mickey’s Deli and the complex located next to the deli in downtown Shelton. Together with his wife, Bobbie, they owned and
operated My Travel Agency and Fir Lane Terrace for many years.
He is survived by his sister, Lorraine Kitten, sons: Robert Goodwin (Tina), Michael Goodwin, Jeff Goodwin, daughter: Katherine “Kippy” Dalton (Jack), grandchildren: Jesse Wheaton, Matthew Goodwin,
Jordan Dalton, Alexandria Goodwin & Anika Goodwin, great grandchildren: Taylor Wheaton and Ryan Wheaton and three nieces.
A Celebration of Life potluck- social is planned at his home: 2011 E Island Lake Drive, Shelton on Sunday May 22, at 1:00pm
