Obituary of Lydia Florinda Colo

Lydia Colo, a beloved member of the Alderbrook community of almost 46 years, passed away on the 25th of May, 2016 at Mason General Hospital. She was born on July 25th, 1925 in Havana, Cuba, to parents Urbano Toribio y Caso and Dacila Padron y Perez. She was one of six children, and grew up working and performing with Havana’s theater company. On a trip to Panama in 1943, she met Lt. Francis W. Colo, who was stationed there with the United States Army. The two fell in love and married in Fort Clayton, Panama on August 4th, 1945. They enjoyed over 70 years of marriage, five children, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild prior to Frank’s passing in February. They were very loving parents and grandparents. Lydia had a passion for life; she loved dancing, music, golf, knitting and her family. Her zest and humor was addicting and she was truly one of a kind. She is survived by her four children; Mana Balentine (Jim) Sturgis, SD; Theresa Harvey (Pat) Scottsdale, AZ; Joseph Colo (Terry Oakes) Fountain Hills, AZ; James Colo (Danni) Lacey, WA; sister Esther Rodriguez (Rene) Tampa, FL; and 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Lydia will be greatly missed by the people whom she loved and brought joy and laughter to. A special thank you, to “Colo’s Angels” for the care and love you gave to Lydia and Frank. Love you Mom and will Miss you always. There will be a funeral mass at St. Edwards Catholic Church on June 7th at 9:30 am. A burial will follow at Tahoma National Cemetery at 1:15 pm.
