Obituary of Roy Mack Taylor

Roy Mack Taylor, 75, Shelton, passed away peacefully, Friday, November 15, 2013 at his home after a long battle with cancer with his wife and daughter at his side. Born January 16, 1938 in Aberdeen, WA to Myrtle and Orville Taylor, he moved to Kamilche Point at the age of six. He graduated from Irene S Reed High School in Shelton with the class of 1956. Roy is a descendant of the Fred and Mable Taylor family who homesteaded in the Kamilche Point area in 1886. His father was born at Kamilche Point in 1890. Early employment included Boeing in Seattle and Simpson Timber Company in Shelton. In 1959 he started fulltime work in the shellfish industry which led to him starting his own shellfish business. He is a lifetime member of Shelton Yacht Club serving as Commodore in 1991 and a member of the International Order of Blue Gavel (an international order of past commodores). Working and playing on the water was his life. His home was always open for gatherings of family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Judy; three children Mark (Juli) Taylor, Ben Taylor, & Brandy (Henry) Sedillo; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceeded in death by his parents Myrtle and Orville Taylor, his brother Elmer McMonagle and niece Lisa McMonagle. A Celebration of Life will be held December 14, 2013 at Shelton Yacht Club, 701 E. Pine Street, Shelton from 1 to 3 PM.
