My absolutely unforgettable and favorite teacher from grade school, so fortunate to take his math classes at Croughton Middle. He gave such creative progress notes with references to classic films and culture. I still have them all, some of the only artifacts I kept from school years because they still make me smile. I will miss him.

David was a friend and fellow teacher at Alconbury, England. I will miss his colorful letters and his occasional phone calls. I'm sure David's heaven will have a beautiful cat just for him.

David taught at Alconbury High School in England for many years. During the years I served as principal there he taught in both the math and science departments. He was famous for driving a Citroen 2CV and for his many beautiful rugs from many different places as well as his lively Christmas letters! We will miss you, David

To the family of David -- I just learned today that David passed in July -- such a loss. I taught with David in Izmir, Turkey in the early 1970s and so enjoyed his knowledge and his love for culinary adventures. He held himself and his students to high standards. I, too, will miss his annual Christmas missives -- I always told him he should be writing novels -- he was a joy to know. My sincerest condolences to his family.

I met David Corliss while I was visiting a friend, Judy Monte, in Okinawa, Japan. David treated us to his excellent culinary skills. Later we traveled with a tour to Kume, Island. Years later we (Judy and I) visited David at his beautiful, museum-like home in Shelton, WA. David was very proud of his town, and drove us to see various historic buildings and sites. We traveled around the state enjoyng the mountains and coastal scenery. We continued to correspond over the years. I looked forward to reading his lengthy descriptions and discussions of events. When my Holiday letter to him was returned to me, I learned that he had passed. I will submit the photos that I have at hand.

I am very sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Corliss. It was my pleasure to have known him for 40 years (since 1976 in Sigonella, Sicily). My dad was a colleague of his in at Sigonella (Stephan Decator) School. My bother, sister and I had him as a teacher for several years and managed to keep in touch with after high school. My sister and I had an opportunity to meet him when he was teaching in England while we were on a trip to Europe one summer during summer break at college. He was a great host as he showed us some local sites and we were treated to a local history lesson. He had a great passion for teaching. I consider him one of the most influential teachers that i had at any level of school. I will miss exchanging new years letters with him. May he rest in peace.

David strolled into Nancy Mitchell's garden at a back-to-school party, having driven up in his French Citroen 2CV. This was my first opportunity to meet David. As his principal, I enjoyed his wit, his knowledge, and his demand for academic excellence. David served the Delartment of Defense Schools in Itaky, England, and Japan. We will miss his Christmas letters and the stories of his cats! RIP David!

What a lot of memories from our years of friendship. I remember his love of cats, his cooking a 20 course meal after you had washed all the dishes, enjoying theater in London, following history around England, his style of gardening with a spade in one hand and a martini in the other, his Christmas letters and all the collectibles on display in his house. I will miss you...you were one of a kind.

Oh, the wonderful adventures and escapades David and I shared over the many years he lived in England. What an exciting friend to have even when it all got a bit on the edge of calamity. There wasn't a minute that his mind wasn't cooking up (often literally) something that would lead down an unknown path of new sounds, foods, sights, sites, picnics, hidden treasures, books to share, debates to bare........... We are consoled to think we spent time with him last summer for a wonderful visit.
