Donnie and I were a year out of high school when we married. His boss at Penneys called me Donnie's child bride. In just a few months he was called to the army in the draft. The day he had to go to Oklahoma City for his physical I was in pretty bad shape. From out of nowhere Betty appeared. She spent the whole day with me--we shopped and went to the movies. I haven't forgotten it because I really needed someone that day. Because of a hernia Donnie was rejected and we were able to go on with our life. Jean Lewis

I had the pleasure of meeting Betty this summer when she organized a family getaway at Pacific Beach Resort for her family. I have the good fortune of being mother-in-law to one of Betty's grandson's. It was a joy to get to know her during that season of life. She had a special place in my heart as I watched her loving interaction with the great grands. What a legacy she gave us all! She will be missed. Thoughts and prayers with the family.
