Obituary of Barbara Jeanene Wynn

Barbara Jeanene Valley Wynn Born on July 8, 1927 in Republic, Washington to Perry & Winona Valley. Barb was the shoebox child of the family, born to 3 brothers and 2 sisters; Betty, Beverly, John, Dave and Dickie. Just 2 pounds at birth, she was not given great chances of survival. Winona made sure the fire was stoked in the oven and kept her warm on the door. As she would continue to do later in life, Barb beat the odds and grew up in a small home surrounded by love of family and many friends. After many years and a move to Allyn, Washington Barb’s brothers introduced her to Howard Wynn and they would eventually fall in love. After being married July 30, 1949 they would have 5 amazing children. Jane, Vere, Denise, Greg and Dolores. The family would live in Allyn their entire lives. The tendrils of love and friendships stretch far beyond the Allyn boundaries however. Barb, nicknamed “Babs” by loving friends and family was involved in many things in the Allyn community. She became a member of the T.O.P.S (take off pounds sensibly) group in the early 90’s and held her membership continuously. Of the many involvements, some of the most memorable were her involvement with Jobs Daughters, being a Cub Scout Leader, teaching Bible Study groups at her home and of course teaching anyone and everyone how to swim. Her passion for swimming was something she held on to as long as possible and always took the opportunity to take a dip. When she wasn’t able to go swimming anymore she would be sure to tell the grandkids and great grandkids to jump in once for her. Continuing to beat the odds, Barb battled Kidney cancer as well as breast cancer which resulted in a double mastectomy. This did not deter her from life, she continued on happily and healthy for many more years. A few years ago she moved in with Daughter Denise and Son-in-law Mick which is the home she and Howard raised their children in. Her room was decorated with photos of all her family members and every time someone visited they would get the tour of all the new photos acquired since the last visit. Barb would often tell us that she was so happy to be back at her house, she felt the love and memories embracing her and she couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. A large and loving family Barb and Howard created. Although Howard did not have the chance to meet his Great Grandkids, he was at the beginning of their creation and I know is extremely proud as he watches from Heaven. Daughter Jane was the oldest giving them Grandsons Sean & Kevin. Sean gave them Great Grandson Benjamin. Son Vere gave them Granddaughter Kim & Grandson Perry. Kim gave them Great Granddaughter Kasara. Perry gave them Great Granddaughters Kody, Kyla & Kalli. Daughter Denise came next giving them Granddaughters Teresa & Rachel. Teresa gave them Great Grandsons Bo, Ty and Great Granddaughter Isabella. Rachel gave them Great Granddaughter Chloe and Great Grandson Colton. Son Greg provided them with Granddaughter Nona. Daughter Dolores was the baby of the family and gave them Granddaughters Tammy & Wendy. Tammy gave them Great Grandson Nick and Great Granddaughter MacKenzie. Wendy gave them Great Grandson Justin. Living to be 89 would prove to be challenging and heartbreaking to see the lives of family and friends come to pass. Barb was preceded in death by her husband Howard, Mother and Father Winona and Perry Valley, brothers John, Dave and Dickie, sister Beverly, son Greg, Daughters Jane, Dolores and Granddaughter Wendy. It would be impossible to mention all the friends she said goodbye to through the years but I am confident they are all smiling upon seeing her enter the Amazing gates of Heaven. We will be having a Celebration of Life for Barb at the Victor Improvement Club on January 14, 2017 from 1pm – 6pm. Address is 20 NE Victor Road Belfair, WA.
