Obituary of Lorraine I Robertshaw

Lorraine I. Robertshaw A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend, Lorraine I. Robertshaw passed away January 7, 2017 at home in Shelton, WA. She was born November 27, 1922 to parents, Petur and Greta Anderson (Andresson) in Gladstone, Manitoba, Canada, and grew up in the Steele Bridge district on a farm along the Whitemud River. She was the third of five children, a family of Icelandic heritage who played music together and had great stories to tell of their growing-up years. She later graduated from business college and became an accomplished executive secretary working in many interesting places throughout her career. Lori met Gordon Robertshaw at a dance in Gladstone. They were married September 4, 1948 and spent three years in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, where their son, Darryl, was born. They later moved to southern California in 1951 where they raised their son, Darryl, and daughter, Lesley. The years in southern California were spent with good friends and family. Lorraine and Gordon eventually retired and later moved to Shelton, WA, in 2002 where they enjoyed living the rest of their lives in the Lake Limerick community. Lorraine was known to many as a kind and generous lady who cared about her family, had a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. She was an avid reader and a great conversationalist. Lori enjoyed playing cribbage, bridge and poker and dancing with Gordon. She also enjoyed watching baseball. She was a loyal fan of the Dodgers throughout her life in southern California and later became a loyal fan of the Mariners the rest of her life in Shelton, WA. Michael Saunders was her all-time favorite player. Those who knew Lori knew never to call during a Mariner’s game. Those that did would immediately get the “bum’s rush.” She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Gordon, Arnold, and Harvey, and her husband, Gordon. She is survived by her brother, Roy (Rose) Anderson; son, Darryl (Trisha) Robertshaw; daughter, Lesley (Jess) Robertshaw-Mosley; granddaughters Danielle Kline and Hope (Jay) McGrail; great-grandsons Brady and Chase Kline and Shaw McGrail; and many nieces and nephews. She was truly loved and will be missed always. There will be a celebration of the lives of both Lorraine and Gordon at the Lake Limerick Country Club Inn, Shelton, WA on June 24, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. For any questions or to share any thoughts or pictures of Lorraine, please send to: larobmos@hcc.net.
