Obituary of Joan Marie Christensen

Joan Marie Christensen, 79, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017, in Shelton. She was born February 5, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa to Donald and Mary (Smith) Lyddon. She married Kenneth Knight in October 17, 1954. They moved to Shelton in 1956. Their marriage ended in divorce and she married Jack Christensen January 28, 1978. She worked for the Mason County Engineers office as an accountant until her retirement in 1985. She was an avid seamstress, gardener and enjoyed reading novels and crafting. She also loved traveling during her retirement years with Jack and spending their winters in Yuma, AZ. Joan is survived by; sons Terry Knight of Shelton and Kent (Diane) Knight of Ravensdale; daughter Sherri (Dan) Lombardy of Shelton; step-sons Bob (Ann) Christensen of Sammamish and Doug (Valerie) Christensen of Bainbridge Island; step daughter Lisa (Don) Welander of Shelton; Sisters Shirley Miller of Iowa, Trudy (Wes) Speaks of Shelton and Wanda (Jim) Sobotka of North Carolina. Joan is also survived by her grandchildren Korey, Kasey, Trevor, Delaney and Paige Knight; Ken, Angela, Tim and Shannon Arndt, Brian, Lindsey, Andrea, Joel, and Jacob Christensen and Kyle and Jared Welander; and 16 great grandchildren who were her pride and joy. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Shelton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday January 21, 2017.
