Obituary of Vernon Duane Ogden

Vernon Duane Ogden, a long time resident of Port Orchard, passed away suddenly on April 11,2017 from a heart attack. Vern was born in Seattle, WA Feb. 3,1941 to Verne E. Ogden and Ruth D. Ogden. Both preceded him in death, Verne (1987) and Ruth (2015). Vern grew up in the Port Orchard area and graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1963. He served in the Navy from 1960 - 1962 and was discharged honorably. He then took a job out at Bangor and later transferred to Keyport. He retired in 1999 after 35 years of service. While working at Bangor, Vern met the love of his life, Patricia McNeill, they were married on Aug. 12,1967 in the Irondale Evangelical church in Irondale, WA. They were happily married for 43 years until Pat's passing on May 16,2011. They have two children, Leann Renee and David Duane, both of Port orchard. Vern enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, playing his guitar, building model cars and boats, playing games, doing crossword puzzles, reading and being with his family. Vern was a member at Christain Life Center for many years and even helped to build it in its earlier years. A Celebration of Life service is planned here at the church for Saturday, June 10,2017 at 2 pm. Located at 1780 Lincoln Ave. SE, Port Orchard, WA. All that knew Vern/Duane are welcome to come and join us in celebrating his life. We are thankful that he knew the Lord and went to be with him in heaven. Vern and Patricia Ogden will be laid to rest in the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA on June 9,2017 at 2 pm. This is a private family gathering by invitation only. Vern will receive full honors as a Navy veteran. Vern is survived by his daughter, Leann Bush (Jay) and his son, David Ogden (Amber), both of Port Orchard, his brother, Rodney Ogden (Melanie) of Port Orchard, his sister, Cheryl Hulsizer (Randy) of Spokane, his brother, Lee Ogden (Jessica) of Bremerton and many nieces and nephews and cousins and also his four grandchildren listed below. Amber Bush, 20 Kelly Bush, 18 Michelle Ogden, 11 Zachariah Ogden, 9 Vern was a loving, caring husband and father and will be greatly missed but will live on forever in our hearts. Thank you to all who knew him and was one of his many dear friends. He loved you all.
