Obituary of Lois Irene Bell

The youngest of 6 children, Lois Irene Bell was born February 16, 1923 to Louisa (Jennings) and Charles R. Toler in Aberdeen, Washington. She passed away Saturday May 20, 2017 in her residence at Alpine Way in Shelton, Washington surrounded by her family and a staff of loving caregivers. When she was about 6, her family moved to Hubbard, Oregon but returned to the harbor area several years later. She attended Weatherwax and married her high school sweetheart, William D. Bell on December 17, 1941. In 1943 when Mr. Bell enlisted in the army she followed him to Mississippi and lived there while he attended boot camp. When the war ended they made their home in Aberdeen where she was a wonderful homemaker. She also worked seasonal jobs for the U.S post office as well as several years at Failor’s selling clothes. She loved fashion and shopping. Cooking and especially baking were her greatest hobbies and she loved always sharing the fruits of her labor with friends and family. Mr. Bell had been employed by Rayonier since graduating high school, but in 1973 moved to Newberg, Oregon to work for Publishers Paper Co. where they lived until 1978. They returned to Grays Harbor, once again working at Rayonier making their home in Ocean Shores. The couple also enjoyed several recreational properties on Hoods canal and Lake Nahwatzel. She is survived by a son, William of Grapeview, WA and a daughter, Annette Wallace of Baileyville, ME four grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. There will be a private family gathering sometime this summer to celebrate her remarkable 94 years of life. Cremation arrangements were by McComb and Wagner in Shelton and condolences can be conveyed through their website. She will be buried at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen next to her husband and her first born child, Cheryl Lynne.
