Obituary of Jeffrey Carl Selby
Jeffrey (Jeff) Carl Selby, a lifetime resident of Olympia, passed away at his home May 23, 2017. Jeff was born in Olympia, Washington January 11, 1960, the son of James Carl Selby (2008) and Patricia Ann (Palmer) Selby (1993).
Jeff grew up in Olympia, and lived a brief time in Shelton, Washington. Jeff attended schools in both the North Thurston and Olympia School Districts. He was involved in FFA at both North Thurston and Capital High Schools and participated in FFA logging rodeos, showed animals, and went to Children's Hospital in Seattle with an Old McDonalds Farm.
Jeff worked in landscaping for many years and was a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Mason County Fire Department Districts 9 and 11. In addition he was a Washington State Fire Service Training Instructor, a wildfire crew member and engine driver for the Department of Natural Resources for a couple of years, and a member of the Mason County Search and Rescue for a number of years.
Jeff enjoyed time with his family, camping, fishing, his dogs, and a great BBQ any time of year. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his family or anyone else. He was always there when called upon no matter when it was. He touched a lot of lives in his community. He had a huge heart for everyone and loved all his nieces more than words can say.
Jeff is survived by his sisters Debbie Dryden, Rochester, WA, Cherrie Melby (Steve), Olympia, WA, half-brothers Jimmy Selby, Pontotoc, MS, and Danny Selby (Lynn), Atoka, TN, step mom Falba Selby, Pontotoc, MS, step sisters Sandra Walden (Carney), Pontotoc, MS and Beverly Taylor (Bill), Savannah, TN, nieces Christi Glenn (Denny), DuPont, WA, Autumn Dryden, Shelton, WA, MorgAnn and Makenna Melby, Olympia, WA, great niece Catie Glenn, DuPont, WA, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
Following the service will be a Celebration of Life BBQ at 12:00 p.m., Burfoot Park (Meadows Shelter), 6927 Boston Harbor Rd NE, Olympia, WA 98506.
