Obituary of Lewis Elmer Sytsma
Lewis "Blondie" Elmer Sytsma, 71, passed away peacefully at his home in the Skokomish Valley with his wife by his side on Sunday, January 19, 2014.
He was born in Shelton, WA on January 9, 1943, to the late Elmer and Marian Sytsma. Lewis attended school in Shelton, and went on to work for Simpson Timber Company. He married Margaret "Maggie" Cross in April of 2003.
Lewis admired the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He made sure to include his grandchildren in his outings, as they were his pride and joy. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing on the canal, and was able to take all three grandchildren to Wyoming on successful special hunts.
Lewis looked forward to the visits from his family and many friends, as he always liked to reminisce about all the good times and memories. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his family, and was a great friend to many. Although he will be truly missed, Heaven has been blessed with a great outdoorsman.
Lewis is survived by his wife Margaret "Maggie" of Shelton; son Gary (Kirsten) and daughter Sarah (Evan), of Shelton; step-son Brian Cross and step-daughter Jennifer Cross, both of California; sister Gail Edmiston of Shelton; grandchildren Beau, Tinaya and Tallan Sytsma all of Shelton.
He has been reunited with his parents Elmer and Marian Sytsma, brothers Noel Sytsma, Ian Sytsma, and twin brother Leister "Brownie" Sytsma; living in beautiful paradise, on the hunt of a lifetime.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at noon, at the Skokomish Community Church.
