Obituary of Russell Eugene Thompson
Russell (Russ) Thompson of Port Orchard passed away August 3, 2017.
He was born in Hebron Township, Minnesota, September 11, 1925 to
parents Harvey and Elsie Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 50+
years, Beverly, and his sisters Luane Zachariason of Cameron Park, CA
and Arlene Atkinson of Fernley, NV as well as his children: Son Dennis
(Carla), his Step-Son Steven Himmelman (Caroline), and his Step-
Daughter Jeanne Munds (Bill). 6 grandchildren, and 8 great
grandchildren, as well as numerous Nieces, Nephews, and their families
also survive Russ.
Russ served in the US Navy during WWII, and was plank holder
(member of the original crew following commission of a new vessel) of
the USS Hector. He served 4 years in the South Pacific. Following many
years in California, where he met and married Beverly in Lancaster, CA,
they relocated to the Northwest in first Oregon and then Washington to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
