When I look back upon my life, one of things I am most grateful for is that I was able have a relationship with my best friend Donna. Oh, there are simply too many stories to share of how she mentored me as a teenager & young adult, how she fed my mind & my body, how together we watched every single episode of Law&Order known to man (multiple times), how she took me to places I had never been & explained that rocks on the jetty really ARE slippery, how she beat me with a wooden spoon when I kept eating from her bowl of strawberries, how she endowed me with her strength & no-nonsense attitude, how she embraced me as one of her own, how she loved me unconditionally, but at the same time, refused to put up with my shit (or anyone else's for that matter :-) )...so I won't go into all of those stories in this forum.
But what I will do is relay a conversation I had with her son, Vince, a couple of weeks ago:
I told Vince, "You know, I am who I am today because of your mom. And you know what? I really like who I am. How many people get to say that? I am lucky."
I am lucky and honored because I knew Donna, and when someone touches your soul like that, they never die.
