Obituary of Victor Eugene Martin
Surrounded by his loving family, Victor E. Martin passed quietly away on September 8, 2017. Born on February 9, 1925 in rural St. Louis, MO to Richard H. and Frances M. (VanDoren) Martin, he was the fourth son followed by two younger sisters. He was preceded in death by all siblings, except his sister, Marie in Georgia.
Married for 70 plus years to Gloria L. (Hansen) who still resides in the family home in Shelton, Washington. He leaves behind four children: Joyce Bowyer, Bruce (Sherry) Martin, Doris Ahrens, and Brian (Kathy) Martin, along with three grandchildren: James Michael & Melisa (Doris’) and Evan (Bruces’) and two great grandchildren: Jillian and Aiden.
Victor retired in 1972 after a twenty- six year career with the Seattle Fire Department being promoted to the rank of Captain. Victor and Gloria had a wonderful life together raising four children; traveling and spending winters as snow birds in Phoenix, AZ where they purchased a second home. About six years ago, they decided to move back to Washington to be closer to their grown children.
Cremation by McComb/Wagner of Shelton, Internment at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetery.
