Shay met Joe by accident on the day his truck broke down outside the gate at the Lakewood house. I remember being upset at Shay because he wasn't home from work yet. Then i got a call, "hey, honey, the truck is broke down just around the corner. The guy that lives here is giving me a hand. Walk over. His wife is cool, too." From that moment, Joe and Deanna welcomed us into their lives. We became friends and spent many many many hours talking in the mud room, eating, playing screw your buddy (a card game) , laughing, hanging at the lake, and learning from them. We were witness to them raising two young kids. Joe was a stay at home dad and Nan was at Becker. They taught us so much. Joe was best man in our wedding and the Rodaways did the flowers, too. I will cherish memories of dilly beans, whisker biscuits, and Mr. Mister cooling us off hanging from the tree. The busy business of life got in the way and we spent less time together. It never could change how we feel about you. I miss you Joe and Aunt Nan, thanks for always sharing him with us. I know we drove you nuts at times. Bottom line. ... we just love you.
