Obituary of Errol Vickers Dye
Errol V. Dye, a life-long resident of Olympia passed away suddenly September 29, 2017. Errol was born in Tacoma, WA on December 9, 1945 to Lorna and Ross Dye. He attended Olympia schools and was a proud member of the Class of ’64!
Errol attended community college, completed an apprenticeship and joined the Boilermakers Union. Nicknamed “Bones” he earned respect on the job for his attention to detail, vision and problem-solving skills. He retired in 2002. Although he was a boilermaker for 36 years, Errol was happiest when he was free to work on his own projects!
Passionate about antiques – he loved old clocks, old furniture, wooden boats and classic cars! Over the years, he fixed and restored his favorites. Errol appreciated beautiful boats and fast cars as “works of art” and believed that “you never really own an antique car or boat but simply enjoy it, improve it and pass it on to the next person who will love it.”
Errol liked to boat, fish and explore the coastline. He enjoyed taking road trips and was an avid reader. He loved to laugh and tell stories. Beating family members at cards or board games always gave him great pleasure. Errol loved good movies and savored a good meal!
Errol was preceded in death by his parents (Lorna and Ross) and his brother, Dr. Larry Dye. He will be mourned and remembered by his wife, Dr. Sue Haskin, his son, Jeffrey Dye, his daughter-in-law Lori Dye and his granddaughter, Sydney Dye. He will be missed by many.
Per his request, there will be no formal services.
