Obituary of Edna Anna Paulson

Edna Anna (Schaefer) Paulson, 97, a 12-year resident of Shelton, WA, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, March 8, 2018. She was born September 17, 1920 in Long island City (Queens), New York to Mary (Stamm) Schaefer and Henry Schaefer. She married Vernon L. Paulson on December 24, 1945 in San Francisco, California. Her occupations included working as a grocery checker at Long's Grocery, Watson's Grocery, Puget Sound Pet Supply, all in West Seattle. She was involved with West Seattle Boys Club and Food Bank, PTA and Job's Daughters. With Vernon she enjoyed square dancing, traveling the USA in motor homes, taking the train across Canada collecting coffee mugs and tea cups along the way. She also collected Presidential and State coins, and German Hummels and letter carriers. She enjoyed playing cards at Lake Limerick Country Club, Senior Center and with special Pinnacle friends in Grapeview; Mexican Train dominos at home and her Cathedral Canyon country club condo in CA. She loved music and dancing. You could always find homemade cookies in the cookie jar, she loved to bake and can foods from their garden. She was a caregiver to many family and friends. She will be remembered for caring for others before herself. For 54 years, Edna was the loving wife of Vern Paulson. She was the mother of Lynn (Brian) Randolph, Renton; and Gail (Cal) Gagner of Shelton. She was the grandmother of Angela (Gary) Williams of Puyallup; David (Susanne) Randolph, Renton; Teresa (Eric) Hanson, Puyallup; Daniel (Darci) Randolph, Puyallup; Allison (Kalai) Kamakani, Shelton; Beau Gagner, Shelton; and Monique (Doug) Brown, San Marcos, CA. She was the great-grandmother of Mason, Dylan, Miranda, Will, Logan, Taylor, Ethan, Ava and Reagan (due in April). She was the aunt of Joan, Billy and Linda. She was preceded in death by her son Greg in 1975, and her husband Vern in 2000. There will be no services, per her request. Inurnment at Tahoma National Cemetery, with Vern. Arrangements by McComb & Wagner Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Seattle WA Chapter. Thanks to Providence hospice team, especially Lorna, Miranda and Sherry.
