Obituary of Edwin J Muegge

Edwin J. Muegge, age 82, of Olympia, WA, formerly of Liberty IL. died Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 9:30 am in St. Peters Hospital. Edwin was born December 14, 1935 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Edwin and Margaret Hanna Danielmeyer Muegge. On September 27, 1963 he married Carolyn K. Muegge in Liberty, Il. who preceded him in death. Edwin was a 1954 graduate of Quincy High School. He worked for Motorola for several years and as a boiler room operator with Celotex for 26 years. He also served in the Illinois Army National Guard. Edwin loved people and spent his life serving others. Over the last five years he volunteered as an ambassador for Capital Place, which he was extremely proud of, and as part of the wreath program at Boardwalk Apartments. Most days he could be found at the entrance door of his apartment building greeting people as they came and went. He wasn't the most athletic but he spent hours in the back yard teaching me to throw, hit, and catch. He wasn't financially wealthy but worked hard and did whatever he needed to do so our family had what we needed. He was the kind of guy that could go through life relatively unnoticed but for those that had the opportunity to spend time with him they found a sweet, funny, kind man that was a pleasure to know. He loved my mother and I greatly and I can only hope to live up to his example as a husband, a father, and a man I miss you and I love you dad. Edwin loved his family and is survived by a son; Eric (Nicole) Muegge of Olympia, WA, a grandson; Lathan Muegge and a granddaughter; Katherine Muegge both of Olympia, WA, a sister; Janet (Rick) Muegge Lippincott of Canton, MO., sister-in-law Lola Taute of Quincy, IL, nieces; Valerie Brown of Quincy, IL, Rene (Brett) Stewart of Liberty, IL, and nephews Leroy (Betsy) of Greenfield Illinois; Paul of Bowling Green, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife.
