Obituary of Nadine Ruth Baybarz
Nadine Ruth Baybarz, aged 84, died peacefully at home on June 8, 2018, after being diagnosed with cancer 4 years prior. Nadine was born on March 15, 1934, in Aberdeen Washington, the daughter of Guy Elliott and Ruth Sergeant.
Nadine thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling, reading, crossword puzzles and word games. She loved bird watching and enjoyed many feeders in her yard. Nadine did volunteer dental hygiene work at Nepal health camps and traveled there five times in her 70’s. She enjoyed touring India while in the Nepal area. In addition to being a farmer’s wife and mother, other jobs she held include a nurse’s aide in the maternity ward at the original St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia, an insurance agent, real estate sales, counselor at girl’s reformatory and dental hygienist. Nadine received her dental hygiene degree at age 59 and retired at the age of 78.
In her retirement she loved to spend time with her dear friend Delnita Sharrah, travelling to Mexico and going on road trips. She also enjoyed spending time and travelling with her long-time friend, Doris Raudenbush.
Nadine married Lawrence Baybarz in 1951 and divorced in 1977. She never remarried.
In addition to raising 6 children, she provided elderly care in her home, cared for multiple foster children, and helped many people in their time of need.
Nadine was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Shelton, Washington.
Nadine is survived by her brother, Donnie Elliott, Clackamas OR; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathi and Wayne Johnson, Langley, BC; Sheryll and Doug Rosario, Boring, OR; Julie and Terry Setina, Olympia, WA; Lynette and Russ Wickett, Shelton, WA; Andra and Allan LeFever, Addy, WA.; son, William (Billy) Baybarz (deceased), Olympia, WA; 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life for family and friends on June 30, 2018, 3:00pm at the Shelton Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
