Joan (& Don) took me into their home in 1971 when I was 11. I grew to know them as “mom & “dad & Joan’s famiy became my family where I was introduced to great, kind people love me the Fursman’s & the Floersch family who instantly became an uncle, aunt & fun cousins. I became an older sister to Tony & had the privilege of learning to care for Joan’s babies: Mia & Steve who cane later. I learned a lot from Joan. I regret we were not close over the years, but her strong influence of reason, care & kindness will always guide me thru my life. She has suffered so much loss, but would give everything she had to anyone at all -mostly to her own detriment. I hope she knew how much she was loved.

There was no momma, like momma Kantas. May she Rest In Peace. God bless her and her family during this time of loss.

I was Joan's Director at St Peter and so appreciated her care and dedication to her patients. She was a strong advocate for her team, often taking extra shifts since she knew how hard it was to work short handed. She treated each patient as if a they were a friend and family member (and most likely they were) always with grace, dignity and respect. Joan had such a positive attitude even when life events gave her license to be otherwise. She had such energy, working circles around techs more than half her age (a fact she often expressed and was quite proud of). I know she helped many and they will miss her for a long time. Hoping down the road, they will remember something about Joan that will make them smile, I think she would like that!!
