Obituary of Doyle "Dode" Donnie Howard
Doyle Donnie Howard, known by “Dode”, 87, of Shelton WA, passed away peacefully on December 30th 2018 in Shelton WA.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 19th, at Shelton Christian Church with Pastor Bruce Thacker of Shelton Christian Church & Pastor Sidney Thorne of Shelton First Church of God, officiating. Light refreshments will follow.
Dode was born in Shelton, WA to Obediah and Thelma (Wilson) Howard on December 11th, 1931. He graduated from Shelton High School in 1951. He married Alma Jean Berry on August 1st, 1952 in Shelton, WA. He loved to whittle, build homes and was a hard worker. He always said to take a lunch pail to your job interview! He enjoyed making people laugh, doing skits with Jean, his sister in law Rea and friends while in Yuma, Arizona. He loved making and selling donuts with friend, Lyle Schneider, while living winters in Arizona. He was famous for his peanut butter frosted donuts and his peanut butter cookies! Dode worked at ITT Rayonier, Graystone, Ace Paving and was owner of Howard’s Hoe Service and Country Market Fruit Stand and Hillside Storage in Shelton.
Dode was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Jean Howard, parents, Obediah and Thelma (Wilson) Howard, sisters Wanda Stidd and Billie Rice, brother Elgie Howard and grandsons, James Howard, Jeremy Howard and Paul St Pierre.
Dode enjoyed his family and is survived by sons Rocky Howard & wife Tammy, Randy Howard & wife Brenda, Don Howard & wife Patti, Ted Howard & wife Michelle, and Tom Howard & wife Careen, daughter Jeanne Blanton & husband John, a previous daughter-in-law Laurie Howard. Dode and Jean were both blessed with 39 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Dode Howard would like to extend our sincere thank you to the entire staff at Fir Lane Health & Rehab. Their treatment of our father was outstanding and we appreciate their care for him as if he was part of their family.
