Obituary of Ruth Vivian Chambers
Winter Beauty
It was dawn when first I saw her,
such an awesome sight.
Silhouetted in all her greatness,
against the morning light.
The time was late morning,
before again I looked her way,
The splendor of her beauty,
nearly took my breath away.
She looked like a bride,
in a dress of snowy white,
with a long flowing train,
that spread left and right.
The morning sun had faded,
the sky was turning gray,
but on her dress, there were
sunbeams still at play.
The gray clouds came closer,
but the lady stood her ground,
this regal beauty,
the pride of Puget Sound.
The shadows slowly deepened,
the dress turned a bluish hue.
The clouds came ever lower,
as to hide her from my view.
So with the coming darkness,
and in the fading light,
Mt. Rainier and her foothills,
slipped into the night.
