Jeanette Whitcomb-Boothe

Obituary of Jeanette Faye Whitcomb-Boothe

Jeanette Faye W. Boothe, 75, passed from this life to live her eternal life with our Lord on January 15, 2019, in Shelton, Washington. Jeanette was born and raised in Columbus, Nebraska, among a strong and loving family of farmers. The third daughter of Emil and Alvina Ahrens, she attended Shell Creek District 2 School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1961. After high school, she married Gerald Whitcomb, and they moved to Shelton in 1969 where Gerald began practicing law and Jeanette finished her college studies at Evergreen State College. Their daughter, Cortnae Heather, was born in 1970. Jeanette developed strong friendships throughout the community and those friends became her extended family as she continued her studies in law while raising her daughter and working in law offices, and for the Mason County Prosecutor’s office. In 1984, Jeanette married Steve Boothe and gained two sons, Jim and Jeff. She passed the Washington State bar exam in 1986 and opened her own law practice in January 1987. Since then, she has tirelessly helped anyone in need in communities all over Western Washington. She has received media recognition for many of her cases and also served as the President of the Mason County Bar Association. Throughout her life, Jeanette’s passion for her work has allowed her to touch the hearts of many. Her spirit, love and belief in the presence of good in everyone, drove her until her last day and will live on in all of those that she touched – not only her immediate family, but the extended family that she collected throughout her life. Besides law, Jeanette loved animals, the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, fishing, the Mariners and the Seahawks, and spending time at her Kamilche home. Jeanette is survived by her immediate family - husband, Steve Boothe, her children and their families; Cortnae & Adolfo del Valle (Celeste 19, Elle 12 & Lorenzo 10), Jim & Amy Boothe (Cody 19, Willow 17), Jeff & Sheyla Boothe (AJ 16), her sister, Joyce Runge of Columbus, and many members of her extended family – nieces, nephews, cousins and more special friendships than can ever be mentioned. Her family is hosting a memorial service on Saturday, January 26 at 2 pm at The Pavilion in Shelton, Washington. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in her name to either your local animal shelter, Kitten Rescue or St. David’s shelter, both in Shelton.
