Dear Randy, Pam, and Judy,
Stan and I wish to extend our most heartfelt condolences for your loss, for it is indeed a tremendous loss. I have had the honor of being not only Leo’s niece, but his Goddaughter. As a child growing up, whether near or far, Uncle Leo always remembered me with thoughtful gifts for a young girl on my birthday and Christmas. Uncle Leo was there for my first holy communion, my confirmation, and my wedding. He celebrated with me when I graduated from college, received my Master’s degree, and became engaged to Stan. Uncle Leo really did enjoy that belly dancer at that party! I treasure my dance with Uncle Leo at my wedding reception and his warm, sincere welcome to my husband Stan into the family. Uncle Leo was there with love and support when my son, Rory, was catastrophically injured in Iraq. He was there to shake Rory’s hand and welcome him home at Rory’s Purple Heart ceremony. Uncle Leo was generous with his time and attention even babysitting my children when they were toddlers. They came home jabbering about the bunnies with which they got to play. He even built and upholstered a child-sized sofa for my girls for their playhouse. Through the years we spent time together at each other’s homes picnicking and barbequing. I treasure our car trips together to our cabin in the woods in Eastern Washington when we shared stories of family joys and hardships. His insight was wise and comforting. I will treasure as well our time spent gardening together when we both became residents in Shelton. Uncle Leo always had a variety of plant starts for me. While I haven’t seen Uncle Leo since we moved to Sandpoint, Idaho and am saddened at his passing, I find great comfort knowing that he died peacefully in his home, in his chair napping after completing a morning’s work of what I am sure was one of his many talented projects.
Peace and love to you and all of Uncle Leo’s surviving family members. Cynthia & Stan Lefever
