Fran to James: Would it be okay if I post this on the website for others to read...or you can if you'd like. This is such a lovely tribute to mom that I'd love to share it! She loved you, and I'm glad that her words stayed with you!
James to Fran: you sure can and I would love for everyone to know what a influence she has and still is. She literally crosse's my mind still today. One amazing woman. Miss our trips to get Burgers and Fry's with her.

I have no pictures which is sad cause this lady brought me so much joy. I remember the talks she had with me as a troubled youth. The time she spent helping me to understand the things in life that really mattered to me. She always was a light that I never new was there till I got older. She has always been in my head and always will. This lady was class, comfort, joy, Grace in the way she never had to be to me. I was never her, for say grandkids. But so loved her stories and thought on life. She shared her bad times along with all of her amazing good times. She taught me so much in the short time I was near her. Always looked forward to seeing her. She will be missed and will live on in so many of the people she touched!.

I don't have one particular memory of Mrs. Robert's but her daughter Mary was one of my best friends (still is) growing up. I spent many nights at sleep overs with Mary and her mom was always so kind to me. Always ready with a hug and smile. I knew I was cared about when I stepped foot in her house. I have wonderful memories of her, may she rest in peace with Short. You will be missed........

Grandma and Grandpa Short as we fondly referred to them taught all of us Grand-kids that hard work does not kill you and you can actually find great satisfaction after a long day of painting the trunks of peach trees white or spending 100 degree days picking up bales and getting them in the stack. It still makes me chuckle when I think of the well-water in Fort Rock that many could not bear to choke down even when they plugged their nose, but nothing tasted better in the mid-day sun while toiling in the field. They never seemed to have much but always had something to give to those in need. The grit this generation had has slipped away from our society, I hope not so far away that we cannot draw upon it once again when times get hard. Thank you for what you taught us by example through your times of success and trials. Don Rush, Oldest Grandson
