Steve (Mr. Steve—to me) was an amazing person to work with and phenomenal Social Worker. He answered that Social Work call many times. When I joined his team, at PG Co Vet Center he was instrumental in helping orient me to Vet Center (Regional Office) way of doing things despite my many years working for the VA system as a provider. I have many fond memories of cases we worked on, his sage advise, holiday and Picnics, Potlucks and Air Museum trips with our Vets.
Mr. Steve, your long hair, love of Motown’s best and all the Old School jams, and long stories about the VA back in the Day and Guam stories will be so missed.
To the family
You all have my Deepest Condolences, your father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle was an amazing man.
Sincerely
Lee Banks and Family

I worked with Steve at the PG CO Vet Center. He was a great guy and he cared very deeply about the veterans he worked with. He will be sorely missed.

Steve had an office in the Annapolis Vet Center while he and Fred Lockard were doing the final build-out on the new PG County Vet Center. Steve shared a lot of the Vet Center history with me, as I was new to the VA at the time. He is truly one of the "good ones", who advocated for his veterans and always went the extra mile. I will miss him terribly. Godspeed, and prayers for comfort to Steve's family. --Mark Chapin

One of my favorite memories of dad is how he would holler out your name in a phone call with such joy that you felt you were the most important person he could be talking to. “SYLVIA, how are you my sweetheart he would say. I will miss his voice.

This photo was taken at one of the trips to the Nationals baseball games. He's wearing one of his favorite shirts - navigation I called it. His help over the years was essential to me in navigating both the VA system and the personal traumas I'd suffered and I just can't say enough about how good the man was. His compassion and deep understanding touched so many folks. We're all lucky to have had him in our life.
