Obituary of Jacquelyn Dolores Bevens

Jacquelyn Dolores Ware Bevens, 81 years old, of Hoodsport, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2014. Jackie was born in Portland, Oregon on October 31, 1932 to James E and Clara R (Williams) Ware. She grew up in Ardenwald and West Moreland, Oregon and graduated from Milwaukie Union High School in 1950. On October 24, 1950, almost 3 years after what began with a Christmas kiss, Jackie married her high school sweetheart, Charles G Bevens. Together they raised their four children in Portland and Corbett, Oregon. Due to Chuck’s work, they relocated to Medford, and upon his retirement, moved to Florence, and then Canby, Oregon. For the last 7 years, they split their time between Hoodsport, Washington and Yuma, Arizona. Jackie was a gracious, warm-hearted woman who lived her life with great style and conviction. Professionally she was a licensed tax consultant for 45 years, beginning her career working for Walter J Frenz & Associates and eventually going in to business for herself, but her primary focus was her husband and children, creating a home that was full of love, laughter and affection. She truly loved her family and friends and she leaves a wonderful, lasting, legacy to everyone she loved and touched. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, beading, gardening, and travelling. In 1947 she was a Milwaukie, OR centennial court princess. She volunteered for several community groups, including Corbett Grange, Friends of Vista House, and NEMCCA in Corbett, Oregon and The Players Guild Theatre in Florence, Oregon. She is survived by her husband Chuck of 63 years, daughters Kay (Bill) Monaghan, Kristen Wagner, and Karen (Tony) Patton, son Scott (Windy) Bevens, sister Patricia (Karen) Jarvis, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Janice (Ron) Pomante, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, as well as extended family members and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandson Korey Kerslake.
