Obituary of James A McKinley
James McKinley, 66, a resident of Shelton, WA, died September 16, 2019 at home. James, often known as “Jimmy” was a very likeable and friendly guy. He resided in Shelton for about 25 years and was known best for his love of nature and gardening.
He enjoyed his work as a local landscaper, taking care of many yards and property for local residents. He took great pride in his craft to bring beauty to a yard or a piece of property and it was appreciated and loved by many.
Jimmy Loved and cared for God’s Creation and Nature, so you could have called him “One of God’s Gardeners.”
He also had a great love for his pets, or as he would call them his kids: Chewy, Precious, and Puppy. Jimmy loved God and his home was a sanctuary with reminders of his affection towards God in all of his knick-knacks and pictures. He attended Gateway Christian Church in Shelton and referenced this as His Church.
Jimmy is survived by his sons, Joshua and Jeremy McKinley; brother, Thomas Birdwell; sister, Barbara Lee (Birdwell); three grandchildren: Tori, Triniti and Jordon McKinley; sister-in-law, Sharma Drake as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Murphy and father, Emmett McKinley; brothers, Randy Birdwell, John & Robert McKinley, and sister, Joan McKinley.
Jimmy struggled with many health issues and disorders. He is now safely home in “Heaven,” in peace and whole. He will be missed.
