Obituary of John Thomas Hogle
John Thomas Hogle, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at his home in Shelton, Washington. John was born August 15, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Glen M. and Josephine S. (Barker) Hogle.
As the youngest of 3 children, John grew up on a farm in Mora, Minnesota, this is where his love for outdoors began. John joined the Navy and went on to honorably serve his country during World War II, from 1943 to 1947, working on floating dry docks repairing ships in the Philippines. John spoke very highly of his experience in the Military and often said, "It is the best education."
Learning his trade as an electrician in military he went on to work for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton. Later he retired from Manchester Fuel Depot, in 1981, where he worked for 18 years, and served his country for a total of 35 years.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. Most importantly spending time with his wife and daughters who will forever cherish the memories of fishing and camping trips, sitting by the fire and whittling with the first pocket knife Daddy gave us.
John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, June M. (Matson) Hogle, daughter, Janet Hogle (Dan Jackson), Joanne Schippmann, and Joyce (Martin) Bevans. Six grandchildren, Serena (Erik) Zizumbo, Joshua and Grace Schippmann, Jocelyn, David and Alana Bevans. Four great grandchildren, Lowgin, Naomi and twins, Kenzie and Kimbra Zizumbo, and several Nieces and Nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Clara Belle Mitchell and Helen Soderstrom.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 1:00 pm Shelton Presbyterian Church, 1430 E Shelton Springs Rd, Shelton, WA.
