Obituary of Kim Elaine Kennedy-Gossett

Kim Elaine Kennedy-Gossett, 63, passed on December 5th, 2019, at her home in Grapeview. Kim was born on August 30th 1956, in Tacoma, WA, to Ray and Pat Medeiros. Kim was raised in Belfair and lived in the Belfair area her whole life, and she would not have had it any other way. Although she loved to travel, she always loved to be home. WORKER Kim had several different jobs, unlike the true definition of a queen, she truly served the people and for that, they all loved her. She worked at the Belfair Cafe, the Barn, the North Shore, as well as the Shelton Landfill, where she brought home a cat named “DUMPY”, that was Mom. Kim had also been known to cut pine during Christmas, for some extra money and even had a tree lot or two. Bottom line is, she always provided for her family, she was never ashamed of the work she was doing, no matter the job and she really knew how to stretch a penny. In fact, she will be mad at us for using so many words as each one will cost to print, that was Mom. WHO SHE WAS In her younger years Kim enjoyed hanging out with her friends and had been known to have a few shots of tequila, going crabbing, clamming, shrimping or anything to do with getting outside with the people she loved. She loved to travel and see new things like NASCAR and most of all concerts, I think that Rod was her favorite but I say that only because she has a life size cutout of him. She loved to wear Tie-Dye for any occasion, but don’t worry, if you are in a tux she will make you feel comfortable, even if it was a black tie event. Kim loved her birthdays and why wouldn’t she, they lasted the whole month of August. Yes, 30 days of b-days mostly because she was the QUEEN. Kim also loved to collect M&M stuff, she even has shoes, not sure what got that started but she really loved those little hard shell fellas. GRANDKIDS Fast-forward 16 years or so and just like that, she was a Grandma and boy, was she a pro. She loved to have Grandma’s Weekend every year. This is a weekend that turned into a week where in most cases her and Rick would take Rachel, Lily and David (when he was younger) somewhere that the parents were not allowed to go. So for the last 17 years she has spent doing anything and everything to make sure that these kids had what they needed and felt nothing but love. She loved watching her Hallmark movies with the girls and don’t worry she would record all of them so you never have to miss one. She would hang out with David and his friends at the Mason Lake property and have a beer with his friends (she was the only one invited). If anything, she would have loved to spend every waking minute with her grandkids, no questions asked. Although Kim had many families and kids in her life, she had a special place in her heart for her niece Jamie and neighbors, Micheal, Keri and boys Elijah and Micah, they were very special to her. LOVE Kim met and was briefly married to Robert Griffey of Allyn. Together they had a wonderful daughter, Teresa. Kim later married Bill Kennedy of Belfair, whom she had known since she was 12 and had met in school. Together they had their son Matt. Many years later Kim met and married Rick Gossett who passed in 2001. Kim later met Rick Calvin, “Grampa Rick” of Grapeview and spent the rest of her days with him, including her last breaths. Kim is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Pat Medeiros, brother, Doug Medeiros, sister, Michael McLean, nephew Doug Parker and late husband, Rick Gossett. Kim is leaving behind her brother Bruce (Tina) Medeiros of Belfair, daughter Teresa Griffey of Belfair, son Matt (Merrilee) Kennedy of Tacoma, grandson David (Michelle) Larson of Tacoma, granddaughter Rachel of Tacoma, granddaughter Lily of Belfair, her partner Rick Calvin of Grapeview and dearest friend, Cami Kennedy of Grapeview. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and FRIENDS too many to list at .25 cents per word, but you know who you are. “IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD, GO HOME AND LOVE YOUR FAMILY.” – Mother Teresa. Kim’s family will be celebrating her with a service at the Belfair Baptist Church at 23300 NE State Route 3, Belfair, WA. 98528 on January 12th, 2020.
