My deepest Sympathy April and Claire. I will always remember your dad/Clay as a real gentlemen. Almost from another time kind of guy - really sweet and kind - this is how I'll always remember him. He also had a real "cool" way about him - as my dad would say...they both had that. I picture him with Grandma Shirley. I won't forget him.

My childhood friend and neighbor, Clay was always willing to share. I recall one time when Clay received a birthday card from a relative that contained some cash. Clay decided to use that cash to pay for fresh haircuts for himself as well as his little brother. the rest of the money was spent extravagantly on ice cream for Clay's little brother, his mother Shirley, Clay and me. Many childhood sand lot base ball games when Clay would hit it over the roof of our house, an automatic home run. I will remember Clay as a generous kind-hearted soul who thought of others before himself. Rest easy my child hood companion. You will be missed but not forgotten.

I was sad to read of Clay's death. We were in high school at the same time and he lived across the street from us. I remember him swinging in a tire swing on a tree in the corner of his yard, maybe middle school age. It looked like a good place to be on a sunny day. He was a nice guy. My sympathies to your family.
