My mom, Nelda Flint, and I met Ted and Isla about 30 years ago when they both ran the snack bar at St. Edwards Tuesday night bingo games at the old Parish Hall and then later at the one where the Sheriff's office is now located. Mom and I would so enjoy the wonderful food they made from scratch; chili, pie, brownies...spaghetti. It was such a treat and that was the best part of playing bingo...what did Ted & Isla cook up today?! Everyone showed up early just to get their delicious cooking before they ran out! They were both such sweet people...always glad to see us. Over the years I ran into Ted a lot and later as he needed rehab when I worked at Shelton Health & Rehab, I just adored him. He loved to tease me and always had to give me a big hug. (Sorry, Tanya, he liked me better! lol) He would always ask about my mom whenever he saw me and she would then come visit him. Later, when he moved to Maple Glen, it was so nice to see him "running" the place. He loved the color purple and would always sincerely compliment me whenever I wore a dress...always so nice and sweet, like I made his day. I will never forget you, Ted. At your service, Ted, I wore the purple dress just for you. ~much love, Adele Dupont

To All of Ted's Beloved Family,
We will never forget the first time we met Ted and Isla, when we traveled to Washington to see if we really had relatives there. We stayed with them for days and still weren't sure -- but Ted and Isla said they didn't care if we were related or not. They adopted us anyway and introduced us to the whole wonderful family at your annual reunion. Then, we had the blessing of Anne Vetter's dinner and her remembrances and photos of Grandpa Stanley, which helped us make the final connections. What a wonderful day that was. And what a gift to meet so many terrific Washington family members over the years.
We'll never forget our trips to Washington and the great times there -- and how we were welcomed by all with open arms. And we have unforgettable memories of the Washington clan's visits to Minnesota, too. There was the time Charles and Jack flew over the Twin Cities taking photos of the riverways. And Ted and Mary's train trip when Mary was the only person to spot "Buffalo" on the prairies of Dakota. Lunch on the pier in Stillwater with Lou Ann and Ken. And, the most delicious of events-- "Pie Day," when Ted and Carolyn created a dessert table that was not to be believed -- Martha Stewart couldn't hold a candle to those two.
We are heartbroken to hear about Ted's passing. He was an extraordinary man, whose kindness, warmth, great sense of humor -- and terrific cooking -- made everyone who met him feel welcome. His Minnesota Family will miss him mightily, but we know that he is probably already planning what he and Isla will do to decorate Heaven for Christmas this year.
Via Condios, Ted. We will miss you, but carry you in our hearts forever until we meet you and Isla on the other side.
Marion, Jack, Alex & Jamie, and Johnny Burch
and, of course, Lola, our Rat Terrier who slept by Ted's bed whenever he visited

Ted was born December 19th, 1939 to AJ and Florence Strozyk in Raymond WA. He had nine brothers and two sisters. After a short stent in the Navy where he and his brothers, Gene and Larry were all stationed together on the USS Moale, he returned home met Isla and married in October of 1961. Ted is preceded in death by his wife Isla and son Mark and is survived by his daughters Lisa (Kelly) Frazier, Becky (Russ) Walker and son Jeff (Gail) Strozyk, grandchildren Mark (Tanya) Strozyk-Frazier, Mariah Frazier, Willow Walker, Madi Walker, Brandon Roberts, Kevin Roberts, Kevin Strozyk, Bryan Strozyk, Justin Strozyk and Emily Strozyk and three great granddaughters, Jenavieve, Hailey and McKenna.
Suffering a series of spinal injuries, Ted left the workforce and went on to volunteer his time and energies here in Shelton at St. Edwards Catholic Church and to multiple community service organizations throughout the area.
Ted loved nature and all that that includes, whether you walked on two legs, four legs, slithered, flew or grew, he found comfort and joy in all of God’s creations. He was most happy being in his garden from dawn to dusk drinking coffee and communing with all those creatures that inhabited it.
Ted loved having family and friends around. There was always an extra person or two or ten at the dinner table. Ted was a great cook and loved to share his bounty.
Family and the community will always remember him for his love of Christmas. You could find him shopping for the season all year long. It seems fitting that his passing happened on the day that Maple Glen was holding their Christmas in July event;.
Ted was laid to rest beside his beloved Isla at Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo, Washington on July 22nd, 2014.
Memorials may be sent to St. Edwards Catholic Church, Stained Glass Window Fund, PO Box 758, Shelton, WA 98584.
