I called her 'G,' and I loved her and I argued with her...We decided to stop discussing politics. Gizelle spent many a Thanksgiving at our house, always welcome around our table. My kids thought of her as a favorite Aunt. We had a mutual interest in gardening and reading, rock collecting and family history...So many other things. We were never at a loss for things to talk about. Loved her sharp wit and wicked humor! G was my mother's friend first, that's how we met - but I've known her for half my life. I will miss her for the rest of it. I feel so badly that I did not get to help her more these past few years that I have been taking care of my mother, who has Alzheimer's. I was trying to help her organize her things, her life, a bit...Trying to get her past her pride and allow help in these areas. You boys know how difficult and delicate perhaps that could be? It was very personal to her. I knew you, Doug, long ago. I am sorry I never met your brother - or your significant others. I could help you with things if you do need or wish it.
