Obituary of Willis Dell Barney

Rev. Willis D. Barney passed away on August 2, 2014 due to complications of a stroke. He was born on October 4, 1920 in Centralia, Washington. His mother was a school teacher and he lived in various locations in the Pacific Northwest. He graduated from George Fox College at the age of 19 and drove logging truck for several years. He married Wyla Nichols, the love of his life, in 1945. They were married for 66 years before her death in 2011. Feeling a call to ministry he attended the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, where he graduated in 1949. He pastored at various locations in the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia. After three retirements, he retired for good at age 85. He is survived by two daughters, one son, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. His favorite saying was, “Remember God loves you!” A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shelton Church of the Nazarene.
