"HOMECOMING
I can not wait to open the door
When his step on the walk I hear.
I can not wait for the smile I see
From the one I hold so dear.
He grins at me thru the windowpane
While I'm swinging wide the door.
Then he gathers me in his big strong arms
To give me kisses by the score.
"Daddy's home," the kids all shout.
And on the run they come,
To get a hug in his big arms
And also a kiss for fun.
Then when it's quiet, late at night,
And we sit all alone and talk,
I know the comfort of the sound of his voice
And in his ways I walk.

The following poem was written by Lois August 28, 1956
"PORTRAIT OF MY LOVE
I throw myself into my work.
But even there I see your face.
It is not easy to erase
When every line I can retrace.
My fingers touch with soft caress
Your hair, and once again I bless
The day, love caught me and I knew
That before all else, I loved but you.
Your dimples dance, when every smile
Glows radiant on your face, and while
I often wonder what you're thinking,
Like as not, I catch you winking.
And so at nite when I lay dreaming
There at my side you lay serenely
Sleeping, safe in love and adoration
Knowing you'll always have my devotion."
