Obituary of Robert O. Puhn
Robert “Bob” O. Puhn, 96, died at home on December 11, 2020.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Horton) Puhn of Shelton; his sons: David R. Puhn (Patti) of Shelton and R. Scott Puhn (Beverly) of Poulsbo, WA. He is also survived by six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Bob was born on March 4, 1924 in Elma, WA to parents H.O. (Bud) Puhn and Alice Puhn and grew up in a loggers’ world. He graduated from Irene S. Reed High School in Shelton in 1941. After High School, Bob worked in a ship yard in Tacoma a few months before joining the Navy. After the war, Bob went to work at Camp 5 and continued in logging for his entire working career starting as a choker setter, and later worked as a cat skinner, a hook tender and a timber faller, and eventually becoming Camp Superintendent at Camp Govey. His final assignment was the closing down of Camp Govey, thus ending the high country logging era and a 40 year logging career for Bob.
Bob and his wife Thelma were active in Faith Lutheran Church and the Shelton Yacht Club. Bob enjoyed singing, dancing and family gatherings at their home on Hammersley Inlet.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 19th at 2:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church in Shelton. Covid 19 restrictions will be adhered to and all will be required to wear face masks.
