Obituary of Nancy Lee Stanislay

Nancy Lee Stanislay Nancy Lee Stanislay (nee Hyde) Passed away on January 2nd, 2021 from complications due to the Covid 19 virus. She was 77 years old Nancy was born in Grays Harbor on June 11th 1943 to Jacob (Jack) Hyde and Alice Mae Hyde (nee Reynolds) and was the youngest of 5 children. She grew up in McCleary, enjoying hunting and fishing with her father and went to Elma High School, graduating in 1961. Nancy moved to Olympia after her graduation. Very soon afterward, she met and married Donald McLaughlin (now deceased) in 1962 and a year later gave birth to a son, Shawn McLaughlin. In 1964 She gave birth to a daughter, Tammi McLaughlin. Kelly McLaughlin was born on Valentine’s Day 1966 but died of a heart defect 4 months later. Nancy worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for various Olympia businesses before starting her own secretarial and bookkeeping service in 1985. That same year, Nancy married John Stanislay and they remained married until her death. Nancy and John enjoyed the outdoors together including fishing and boating. In 1989, Nancy started experiencing the first signs of what was eventually diagnosed as Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. This form of MS never remits, or relapses and muscle deterioration happens at a much faster rate than other forms of the disease. Despite this, Nancy enjoyed her life with John, who dedicated himself to caring for her, and looked forward to holidays where she got to spend time with her 4 grandchildren, David Lewis, Kelli Lewis, Matthew Lewis and Samuel Lewis. Nancy and John spent the last several years of her life living in Shelton. Unfortunately, she never was able to meet her first great grandchild, Anabelle Rose Lewis (Samuel) because of the pandemic shutdown. Nancy was preceded in death by her father and mother; her daughter, Kelly Marie McLaughlin; Her sister, Phyllis Craighead; Her sister, Joyce Kaplan and her brother, Ronald Hyde as well as her first husband. She is survived by her husband, John, her son Shawn and her daughter Tammi; her older brother, Joseph Wallman, various nieces and nephews and her 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
