Obituary of Barbara Jean Evers

On Sunday, January 3, 2021 Barbara Evers passed quietly in her sleep at the age of 91. Born on May 17, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa, she and her parents, Truman and Achsa Myers, moved to Vancouver, Washington in 1943 and then to the Matlock area a few years later where Barbara graduated from Mary M Knight High School in 1947. Barbara married a Matlock boy, Wayne Evers, on September 8, 1948. They had been wed 72 years at the time of her death. Wayne and Barbara purchased their current residence on Shelton-Matlock Road in 1951 and raised their three children there, other than the nine years Wayne spent working out at Mary M Knight. Barbara was an excellent homemaker, cooking, baking, sewing, and canning. Camping was a leisure activity enjoyed by Barbara and Wayne with their grown children joining them on occasion. Barbara is survived by her husband Wayne, children Alberta (Norm) Seals, Nancy (Mike) Clark and Roy (Wendy) Evers, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, plus several cousins and nephews. A celebration of life gathering is planned for a later date.
