Obituary of Louis Edward Zoren
Louis Edward Zoren, age 63 passed away on April 8 at Mason General Hospital, after a long illness.
Louie fought a long hard battle of colon cancer - his first diagnosis was in August 2010 and it was thought he had beat the beast, but, the cancer came back in August 2018. His treatments were long and physically devastating but Louie was always positive and made the most of a bad situation.
Louie was born August 13,1957, to Fedelia and Louie Zoren in Portland, OR.
He eventually moved to Shelton with his Mom and Laurie and graduated from Shelton High School in 1976.
Louie married the love of his lifetime, Diane Ramsfield, on May 19, 1984 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Shelton. Their son, Nathan, was born in 1990. Louie and Nathan had a very close relationship and Louie was proud of Nathan and would attend every sporting event Nathan participated in during his school years. When Nathan decided to join the Marine Corp, tears were shed, but both Louie and Diane became supporters of the transition and Louie couldn’t have been prouder when all was said and done. He very much loved his son and would do anything for him.
Louie worked at Simpson Plywood Plant and then he worked for a small logging company with friends Bob Fitzpatrick and Jon Guyton. He loved the logging business, but it was tough and he decided to move on to a new job. He worked a brief time at Mason County and then spent the last 25 years of his career at the City of Shelton. Louie worked in the Public Works/Solid Waste Department as a truck driver, and he would just smile and say “I’m a garbageman!” As the customers on his route would attest, Louie was the kindest and most empathetic “garbageman” they ever had. He would go out of his way to help anyone that needed it along his daily routes.
Louie was part of the Simpson Rec Bowling League for many years and bowled with Diane's family on the "Ole's Boys" team. He also played on a soft pitch team and drove in the Cruiser Class at the Elma Raceway. He did it all with much enthusiasm and high spirits. They may have even won a game or two.
Louie loved to travel and he and his family RV'd their entire time together making lots of trips up and down the Oregon Coast, camping at Mason Lake and making semi-annual trips to Long Beach, WA with a special group of RV friends. Annual 4th of July trips were made to The Yaak to visit good friends, the Fellenbergs. Louie and Diane were fortunate enough to buy a piece of Duckabush property, with a small cabin in place in 2013 and that became the hangout for friends and family with many nights around the campfire.
Louie loved the ocean and animals and was always willing to give a lending hand. He loved his family and friends and was a cherished husband, father, son, brother and uncle.
Louie was preceded in death by his Mom, Fedelia and family pet beagle Riley.
Louie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Diane, son, Nathan and grand-dog Popeye, his three sisters - Veronica (Portland), Marlene (Illinois) and Laurie (husband Doug in Olympia). Also, nieces, Vicki and Tracy, and nephew, Thomas, along with several great nephews and a great niece.
A special thanks to family and friends who helped them through the last few years, his Uber drivers Terri Roberts, JR and Dawn Clark and Vista Oncology for their compassion and care.
To Louie, “Thank you for being so full of life during your time on this earth! We all will miss you!”
Due to Covid restrictions, a private funeral mass will be held at St. Edward's Catholic Church.
