John Davies Tupper
On Monday, May 10, 2021, John Davies Tupper, loving husband, father and papa, passed away at the age of 75. John was born on June 8, 1945 in Oak Park, Illinois to Ellis and Jessie Tupper. John and his family resided in Long Beach, California until their move to Shelton in 1962 when his family came to Lake Nahwatzel to buy and run Tupper’s Resort, which is now The Lake Nahwatzel Resort. John graduated from Shelton High School in 1963, attended Centralia College and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. John spent some of his enlisted years in Japan, which left great influence on his life. On November 21, 1970, he married Janice Gwinnett. They settled at home on Lake Nahwatzel and raised a son, Steve Tupper and a daughter Jill (Tupper) Bourgault. John worked his entire career for US West Telecommunications in Aberdeen and was a volunteer firefighter for Mason County District 12, until he retired from both in 2003.
John had a passion for family, friends, adventure and hobbies. He loved to scuba dive, travel, hunt, fish, building & flying RC planes, and watching sports. He was very talented at designing, problem solving and building things; he could fix almost anything. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit. He was always there to lend a hand, when he could. John belonged to many clubs such as The Hood Canal Aquanuts, 40 et 8, Sanderson Field RC Flyers, The Moose Lodge, American Legion, Hood Canal Good Sams, Shelton Nimrod Club and Lake Nahwatzel RC Float Flyers.
John was preceded in death by his father, Ellis and his mother, Jesse, sister, Sandra and brother, Richard. He is survived by his wife Janice, his two children and their spouses, Steve (Jessica) and Jill (Justin) and his brother, Alan Tupper. He is also survived by his cherished grandkids, Hunter, Hannah, Chase and John.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the family home on June 26, 2021 at 12:00 p.m.
