Obituary of Donna M Cruse

Donna Mae (Harper) Cruse a long time resident of Harstine Island passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Mason General Hospital. Donna was born on January26, 1938 in Los Angeles, California to Harold and Chloe (Colvin) Harper. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona and attended Arizona State University where she received her Bachelor Degree, and then attended the University of Guam where she received her Masters Degree. She taught music in California and Guam, and was a high school counselor in Washington state. Donna was also a vice-principal and a counselor at Agueda Johnston Jr. High school in Guam, where she and her family lived for 18 years. She married John Cruse on November 29, 1960 in Phoenix, AZ. Donna loved crocheting, gardening, music and spending time with her family. She was also part of the Harstine Island Women's Club. She was also very dedicated to her faith. Donna was an active participant in St. Edwards Parish in Shelton were she served on the choir. After retiring, Donna and her husband moved to Harstine Island where they built their retirement home. Donna was preceded in death by her husband John L. Cruse, Sr. her parents, Harold and Chloe Harper, Parents-in-law, Clement and Anna Marie Cruse and Grandson Angel Cruse Gofigan. Her love and memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children their spouses and grandchildren; John, Jr and Claudia Cruse (Kyle and Andrew); Marie-Therese and Herbert Gofigan (Symone & Blair Salvino, Keoni); Stephen and Joy Cruse (Stephen Craig & Abigail Cruse, and Donald Cody Cruse and Lindsey Garcia); Donald Cruse and Sonia Braga (Nicolas). A vigil service was held on August 28, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Edwards Catholic Church followed by the funeral Mass on August 28, 2021 at 11:30 am. May she rest in peace.
