Denise Besser

Obituary of Denise Lynn Besser

Denise moved to WA from FL 5 years ago. She had one son who gave her 3 going on 4 beautiful sweet grandchildren. She adored her grandkids so much. They were her world. The best grandma ever. If she wasn't talking about her grandkids she would be talking about her son. She raised such a wonderful, caring, and loving son. She was so proud of him. He was her pride and joy. I was lucky enough to call her mom and have such a close relationship with her. Everyone that knew her loved her fiery spicy attitude and sass. She had such a thick accent being originally from Brooklyn NY. Even after so many years the accent was just as thick as ever. Everyone loved her welcoming attitude. Her hugs were so tight and full of love and comfort. She was the best listener for anything and everything. She was a great partner I crime with me. On June 8, my mother in law, Denise, was diagnosed with non small cell carcinoma in her right lung. She began her chemo and radiation shortly after for 6 weeks. Sept 8th was her appointment for her follow up after her treatments finished. They ordered a CT scan but only of her chest. They did not see any spreading and that the mass became smaller. So they decided to follow up with an infusion treatment that she would get 2x a month for 1 year. She had her first injection on Sept 29th. The following week she began to forget simple things like using her phone, the remote, or even to get water from the fridge. Denise began to have headaches shortly after the forgetfulness started. She and I both called her doctor office leaving voicemail after voicemail on the nurses line to tell them what was happening. Sunday the 18th we came home from our softball tournament with the kiddos and all was great. She asked the kids about their day, asked how we played, our normal conversations. Monday came and she fell out of bed and didn't know who her son, Adam was. She didn't know who she was. We called the ambulance because we knew something was happening. We got a call shortly after she arrived at St. Peter's hospital saying they did a CT scan and found 5 masses on her brain. The cancer had spread. The only thing we could do was keep her comfortable till she couldn't fight anymore. She passed today after beating when all the doctors assumed she'd pass. She passed knowing her 4 grandchildren loved her more than words. That she had such a large family once she moved here with us. How much her son loved her and cherished her. She will always be with us. She is our angel and will watch over us and keep us safe. We love you mom, rest in paradise.
