Obituary of Kirk Kevan Kennedy

After bravely battling lung cancer for nearly three years, Kirk Kevan Kennedy, 68, of Allyn, Washington, passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on the afternoon of Tuesday November 2, 2021. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Kirk managed his illness with resilience and grace. Kirk was born in Bryan, Texas to parents Dean and Noreen Kennedy on June 23, 1953, and grew up with one sibling, Karen Takagi (Kennedy). Kirk graduated from Sammamish High School and served in the United States Navy for four years. He worked as a technician for Century Link and retired after devoting 39 years to the company. Kirk was married to his loving wife Becki Kennedy (Gerbracht) for nearly 40 years, and had two daughters, Cynthia Kennedy and Amanda Schock (Kennedy), and three grandchildren. They created many beautiful memories in their life together. Being a kind and dependable husband, father, and grandfather (“bapa”) was very important to Kirk and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. Kirk loved to play games, go camping, watch his favorite sports teams and spend time with family and friends. He was known for his gentle temperament and frequently described as a “man of few words”, although those few words were often funny and always meaningful. Kirk is survived by his father, sister, wife, two daughters, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was a devoted and loving son, brother, husband, father, bapa and friend. A special thank you to the staff at Assured Hospice for their loving care and support during Kirk’s final months. Details for Kirk’s Celebration of Life Gathering to follow. Condolences may be sent to Becki Kennedy at 11 East Fairway Drive Allyn, WA 98524.
