Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Fisher
Elizabeth “Betty” Fisher (nee Tomkinson) passed away peacefully at home at the age of 74 on
June 4, 2022, surrounded by her family. Betty was born in 1947 in Mesa, AZ to Kirk and Mary
Tomkinson. She was an intelligent and compassionate woman, and combined those traits by
becoming a social worker. She met her husband, Bill, in California, and they married in 1971.
They had two daughters, and her family was her priority. She grew up surrounded by nature,
and she shared that love with her husband and daughters through many camping and hiking
trips. She maintained a lifelong love of Arizona flora and managed to grow a cactus in her house
for over 20 years, despite the weather of Western Washington. She retired with her husband to
Grapeview, WA, where she enjoyed watching the otters, seals, and occasional resident orcas
from her deck, and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and other organizations. She will be
remembered for her acuity in cards and crosswords, her enjoyment of bowling, and her
uncanny luck in gambling. But she will mostly be remembered as a generous and caring spirit, a
true friend who would drop anything to help other people. She fought a strong battle against
lung cancer, and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a bright, funny, intelligent,
and deeply caring person, who will be missed dearly. She is predeceased by her husband of 49
years, William “Bill” Fisher, and is survived by her daughters, Amy and Cindy. In lieu of flowers,
